Las Olas Brass Jaco Pastorius Early Rock and Roll Band
Jaco Pastorius "The Chicken" is a song that I heard about a year ago, presumably because I got a chicken as a pet, it was a nod to me for keeping "Backyard Chickens".
If you want to know some information about Jaco Pastorius This is some backround to the great musician. Work by Jaco Pastorius. I am influenced by his legacy, exposed to the music a few times a day, each week in West Palm Beach, where I often work. He also was in Pat Metheny Group a Jazz Band, which I saw in Boston at Berkley Music Theater and started a campaign for Men's Rights at the club that they played in Cambridge. I was only 16 years old, but I could see that Ladies Nights were unjust to men, and the Men's Rights Group helped me bring our case to the Supreme Court. I was the DJ at MIT then, and very busy with music and radio stations like WMBR.
I was also recently in Pompano Beach, where the subject came up about the Las Olas Brass Band, when Jaco Pastorius left for England and performed some shows in Europe ala Jimmy Hendrix because they discovered him in the band, Lass Olas Brass and wanted him to do shows there! My new co-worker's brother was also jamming in the old warehouse with Jaco as early as 1965.
Jaco Pastorius played for Blood Sweat and Tears, and while I am not a fan of most rock music, my family had all their records and played his music in our house in Boston when I was growing up. I was very young so I listened to pop radio, and mostly Donny Osmond and later, Leif Garret.

My friend, artist Dr. Jerome Glickman, has some studio tapes of Joni Mitchell he would like to make an album for them, if it has Jaco Pastorius playing the bass guitar, I am not sure, but whoever would like to hear them, please contact him on Facebook and let him know, I would love to hear it too when those sessions are released!
Joni Michell wrote a nice article about Jaco Pastorius online, I like this image of him. Diane, who sadly passed away last year from Cancer, was Jerry's wife and often we would talk while he was painting me for his gallery about her and her music with Joni Mitchell. I only met Diane once or twice, and never got the chance to hear her sing, its called Folk music and I do love to sing Scarborough Fair by Paul Simon and Simon and Garfunkel as a warm up and for the Renaissance Fair in Florida.
I would love to put out an album of that music for Jerry as well as sell the paintings he did of me! Here is Jerry and his style of drawing very Egon Schiele style paintings as well. Make an offer for the tapes or the paintings! Maybe a show with fashion and folk music would be great??
Last week I read an article online that Alzheimer's patients can not remember a lot as they age, but they do remember the music and the lyrics to songs! That's some great news.
